Our April Coach Highlight is CFP’s newest coach – Amanda Klosterman!

Amanda1

Amanda & her boyfriend Travis

Amanda just moved to Charlotte to start her chiropractic business and was looking for a new box at which to coach and workout!  We’re so fortunate that she found CrossFit Pineville at just the right time!  Originally from Michigan, Amanda grew up playing sports as well as competitive Olympic Lifting and powerlifting.  She played softball in college at Central Michigan (where coach Brandon also played Baseball – a few years apart – but, a small world nonetheless!) and then found herself in Florida working to obtain her Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer.

Amanda

Amanda is passionate about health and wellness, good food, good beer and her boys – Travis & her dogs 🙂  Amanda is building her chiropractic business at Healing Touch Chiropractic near Carmel Commons, not far from the box!  With her sport and competitive background, she excels in spinal disorders, extremity issues, and enjoys working with expectant mothers and their littles.  Coach Amanda firmly believes all CrossFitters would truly benefit from routine chiropractic care and is already working some of CFP’s athletes!

Travis is studying to become a Chiropractor as well and will be moving up to Charlotte once he graduates in June and will join CFP, also!  We’re so glad to have you coaching at CFP, Amanda, and to have you both as part of our wonderful community!  Read more about Amanda below…

Amanda’s Coach Profile

  1. Tell us a little about yourself.  I was born and raised in the great state of Michigan. I played softball at Central Michigan University and majored in biomedical sciences. After graduation I ventured to Port Orange, FL to receive my Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer, then decided to relocate once again to Charlotte. I have a passion for health and wellness in any and all forms! I love bacon, peanut butter, a good IPA and Siracha. And my dogs. I love all my boys, including my boyfriend Travis.
  2. How did you get into CrossFit & why do you like coaching?  Honestly I got sick of being fat and out of shape after college. I always thought after being tortured for 4 years I’d never want to start lifting and conditioning again. However, I tried the YMCA thing and just couldn’t get with it. A friend finally convinced me to try CrossFit after 2 months of rejection, and after 1 workout I was hooked. I did competitive Olympic lifting and powerlifting throughout my teenage years, and I was super excited to try that out again. I enjoy coaching because I love watching people succeed. Success involving health and fitness just doubles that reward for me. Everyone needs someone in their corner, and coaching allows me to do just that!
  3. What is your favorite CF exercise?  Least favorite?  Give me a heavy barbell that I don’t have to put overhead and I’m a happy camper. Gymnastics are a weakness of mine, and I loath wallballs. Wallballs are definitely the worst.
  4. What would you tell someone considering trying CrossFit/CFP?  You have to get out of your comfort zone to succeed in anything. Fitness should be first and foremost fun, and that’s exactly what CrossFit is, especially at CrossTit Pineville. The people are wonderful and so welcoming. Anybody can do some version of the workouts, and everyone will be your fan, even if you finish every workout dead last. It’s a continual process to leading a great life filled with badass people.
