This month’s Coach Highlight is Frayne!
Frayne & his fiance Jenni moved to Charlotte from the windy city last fall & were looking for a new box home. We’re so glad they found CFP! Frayne grew up a southern boy playing high school football and moved to Illinois on a football scholarship to Northwestern University. After playing collegiate level football, Frayne was looking to stay fit and found CrossFit. He competed on a team in the Central East Regionals in 2013 and 2014.
Frayne met Jen while living in Chicago and introduced her to CrossFit as well. They decided to get away from the terrible winters up north & closer to family down south and picked Charlotte as their new home. Frayne and Jenni will be getting married in May & we’re so excited for them as they begin the next chapter of their life! Read a little more about Frayne below…
Frayne’s Coach Profile
1. Tell us a little about yourself. I was born and raised in SC and went to school at Northwestern University on a football scholarship. My fiancé and I, Jen, were fed up with the winters in Chicago, so we literally picked Charlotte on a whim, flew down and looked at 20 houses in 2 days and bought a house without knowing anyone. It was the scariest thing for us, but it has been the best thing we’ve done by far. We have two kids, I mean dogs, who basically consume our free time. Other than the dogs, we love being active outdoors, traveling, cooking and finding the best buffalo wings in town!
2. How did you get into CrossFit and why do you like coaching? I read an article about it one day and thought I would give it a shot. Needless to say my first workout, 225 hang cleans, 50 back extensions and 50 GHD sit-ups for 3 rounds was the worst experience of my life. But, I kept coming back and it’s been a huge part of my life ever since.
I love working with people who genuinely want to improve themselves physically and mentally. I think CrossFit accomplishes both. It’s an awesome feeling to see someone push themselves physically and mentally to a place they didn’t think was possible to obtain new results.
4. What would you tell someone considering trying CFP? Check your ego at the door and come in with an open mind. It’s all about the community and improving in some way each day.
