Meet our December 2016 Athlete of the Month – Todd McDaniel!!!
We could not have picked a better athlete to highlight to close out 2016! Todd joined our gym back in April 2016 and he has hit the ground running! Todd comes from a power lifting back ground and while he loves all things strength training, he has found a new love for all things CrossFit including gymnastics!
Todd is an early morning regular and rarely misses a 6am class. He is the picture of dedication in and outside the gym and it shows with his progress! Todd has consistently gotten stronger in his time at CFP while improving mobility, range of motion and gymnastics movements, like kipping pull-ups and handstand push-ups.
Todd even participated in our Fall 4 Fitness Nutrition Challenge and was a 3rd place winner this past September & November!! He dialed in his already stellar nutrition to lean out and see better gains in the gym! Todd is excited to participate in the Open for the first time in 2017. He has big goals & we’re sure he can accomplish them all!!
We’re so glad to have you as part of our CFP Community Todd!! Keep up the great work, the best is yet to come! {And keep those killer cheesecakes coming!! 😉 }
Todd’s Athlete Profile
- Tell us about yourself in a few sentences. I’m an IT and Business project manager that specializes in supply chain systems for retail clients. Although I live in Fort Mill, I’m originally from NC (Kings Mtn.). I’m 45 years old, married to an awesome wife, and have a son, stepson and stepdaughter. Besides work and CrossFitting, I enjoy being in the kitchen and I am always trying to improve on current recipes or create new ones altogether.
- What do you hope to achieve through CrossFit? I hope to achieve a greater capacity of functional fitness and be in a position to compete locally as an RX Masters athlete or part of a team in 2017.
- What is your favorite CF exercise? Outside of anything “strict” (my 6am partners will understand this – lol), I would have to say the snatch is probably becoming my favorite.
- What CF exercise do you least like? This one is easy – Double Unders at this moment in time!!! Check back on Jan 3rd, and this answer should be no longer.
- What would you tell someone considering trying CFP? Regardless if you have a background in traditional training methods or not, come with an open-mind and be receptive to CrossFit’s training methodology. Identify several goals (short, medium and long-term) that you would like to achieve and review them with your coaches. Lastly, although CrossFit is competitive in nature, remember you are in competition with yourself first. At CFP, success is what YOU define it to be.
