Andrew

This month’s athlete of the month is the awesome Andrew Ross.  Andrew is a regular at our evening classes and is always ready to have some fun and work hard!

He became a member at CFP back in April and has been killing it in the gym ever since.  You can usually catch him getting in some extra credit of rowing before or after class.  It is really paying off too because he is making gains and loosing weight!

Andrew has one little girl, Lexi and a baby on the way!  He is setting a great example for them about how important exercise is and that it’s fun!  Lexi has been coming to our 5:30 RISE classes and it’s a family affair!

We asked Andrew a few questions about himself and here is what he had to say…

1. Tell us about yourself in a few sentences.  At 40 I have traveled many paths in life, I have found both love and happiness, as well as suffered both loss and despair.  Through my travels I have found myself as a red shirt baseball player at Miami at 17, turned lead domestic international derivatives trader for Deutsche Bank and Saxo Bank by 26, turned PGA Golf Professional at 33, and am currently the director of sales for an international recycling machinery company from Austria.  I have a profound love of God, country, family, and my Scottish heritage. If I’m not at home with my family, you can find me at my Lodge where I proudly display my fraternal brotherhood as a Freemason attaining the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason this year.

2. What do you hope to achieve through CrossFit?  My primary goal for CrossFit was to reestablish my once strong physical form as an athlete… at least that’s what I tell myself! My wife believes it to be so that I will keep up with our expected new
arrival…  I want to be able to throw the ball on the diamond or out drive him on the course until I’m at least 65, I guess it’s the competitive nature of the Ross family!!!

3. What is your favorite CF exercise?  Any one who knows me knows my love of the Row… My goal is my next competitive push in the 40-44 yr old Row Competition in Boston on the Charles, a 50yr tradition!!!

4. What CF exercise do you least like?  As most people would agree, my arch nemesis would be a tie between those dastardly DU and those damn Burpees!

5. What would you tell someone considering trying CFP?  As a newbie to CrossFit, my most sage advice would be to PACE YOURSELF at the beginning of the WOD!!! This is the advice that I would give, not the advice that I heed!

Andrew, we are so proud of all of your work!  Keep it up!!!
