So did you hear out good news?!  Our Fall for Fitness Nutrition Challenge is starting in September!!  Since we’re talking nutrition…let’s talk supplements.  Should you supplement?  Should you take vitamins?  Should you take a protein supplement?  We could go back and forth til we’re blue in the face on should you supplement or should you not!

I believe lots of folks nowadays, as we learn about eating clean and eating whole foods, would say “eating real foods is best”.  I would also bet most CrossFitters, active people in general, and macro followers take some form of supplements on a regular basis!  So should you supplement!?  According to this article, here’s 10 reasons Why You Need Supplements!

First & foremost, remember – NOT ALL SUPPLEMENTS ARE CREATED EQUAL!!  That being said, definitely read the article yourself, but here are 7 important reasons you need some quality shakes & supplementation in your life!

  1. Grains, legumes and modern dairy can all lead to inflammation and inflammation = poor nutrient absorption,
  2. Soil depletion is real due to poor farming practices!  Soil is losing nutrients faster than it can be replaced, meaning our food is not as nutrient dense as it once was.
  3. Modern production methods as well as water filters cause water depletion.
  4. Low calorie diets mean low nutrient diets!  Quality of food does matter.
  5. Toxin Exposure – your body needs nutrients to flush out toxins!
  6. Nutrient Absorption declines with age – kids needs more nutrients to support growth and older adults need more nutrients to support malabsorption.
  7. Nutrients support recovery and depleted energy stores due to exercise!

 

A nutrient rich diet should of course be the focus and is a great theory, however it’s not the easiest to put into practice without quality supplements!  Take your health back ASAP by talking to Coach Michelle!
