Gina is coming up on her 1 year anniversary of CrossFit at the end of the summer!  She and her husband, Justin, joined CFP last August and are an awesome part of our great community!

I think many can relate to Gina – when we asked her to be Athlete of the Month, she responded with “That’s exciting! Never would I have ever thought that I would ever be called an “athlete”, let alone “Athlete of the Month” at CFP!”  But Gina is just that, an athlete, making gains in the gym all the time!  When Gina first started with us, she had to be careful of her knee and squat depth.  As she’s progressed, her knee has become more stable and strong, she is squatting to full depth & she continues to get stronger with PRs on the whiteboard all the time!  Gina also recently got her first strict pull-up!  Woohoo!!  We’re so proud of all your hard work Gina and how far you’ve come!  Keep up the good work, the best is yet to come!

Gina’s Athlete Profile

1. Tell us about yourself in a few sentences.
I’ve had a lot of big life events happen pretty recently. I graduated from Clemson University in December of 2011, married my husband, Justin, last July, bought my first car (which also happened to be my dream car), and bought a house in Fort Mill last March. I work as a Graphic Designer and love being creative.

2. What do you hope to achieve through CrossFit?
I hope to become a stronger more confident person. I’m already starting to see the benefits that CrossFit gives me in every day life. It’s nice to not have to ask a guy to lift something that would have been too heavy for me before CrossFit. 🙂

3. What is your favorite CF exercise?
My favorite CF exercise is the Power Clean! It’s just a fun lift!

4. What CF exercise do you least like?
I could name a few…but I’ll just stick with Burpees.

5. What would you tell someone considering trying CFP?
Do it! The beginning may be a little bit discouraging because you’re trying to learn the weightlifting moves, but it doesn’t take long to get the moves down. The CFP coaches really make sure you’ve got your form down as well. Once you get the moves down, you’ll see the amount of weight on your barbell go up and up. And there is no better feeling than becoming a stronger individual! But it’s the combination of cardio and lifting that really takes you to the next level. Try it and you won’t regret it!
