Rachel is SO deserving of being recognized as athlete of the month!  She has now been with us at CFP for 10 months and has been making huge strides in her health & fitness since joining!  Rachel has an amazing attitude and whether it was a good or bad day, she shows up to put the work in.  She has found an awesome community in our gym, friends from all walks of life coming together and rooting for each other!  She is constantly surprising herself with what she is capable of!

Rachel began getting stronger and improving her stamina and endurance right away.  While building lean muscle mass, she wasn’t seeing the scale move the way she wanted, until she decided to take control of her nutrition!  Back in early April, Rachel started a nutritional rebalancing program and lost a total of 10 lbs in 30 days!!  10 pounds and several inches all over!!!  Amazing job, Rachel!!

We are so thankful to have you as part of our wonderful CFP community!  Here’s to taking charge of your health and more fitness gainz along the way!!

Rachel’s Athlete Profile

  1. Tell us about yourself in a few sentences.  Originally from Connecticut, I moved down to the Carolina’s for college and liked it so much down here I stayed! My parents still live in CT as well and my younger brother. I have an older brother that lives in Hilton Head with his wife and two children who I adore! My passion growing up was horses. I started riding when I was 7, thanks to my mom. After I had my accident (had my right foot mangled in a lawn mower when I was 4 years old), it was hard for me to be like most kids. My mom introduced me to riding, and I loved it. I was highly competitive, usually getting up at 3 or 4 in the morning on the weekends to go to a horse show rather than going out with my friends. I also have an America Bulldog, Daisy Mae.
  2. What do you hope to achieve through CrossFit?  My biggest goal is get back in shape and not just be a shape! I have always struggled with my weight and food. I love food, but it doesn’t love me.
  3. What is your favorite CF exercise?  Most of the weight lifting I enjoy. I would say my favorites are front and back squats.
  4. What CF exercise do you least like?  There are quite a few I don’t like, burpees and running are probably top of the list!
  5. What would you tell someone considering trying CFP?  Stop thinking about it and do it. You wont regret it. I joined with a friend last summer and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. After my horse passed away I needed an outlet, physically and mentally. I was nervous about signing up, I honestly didn’t think it was something I could do. I also fully expected to walk in and see a bunch of world class human specimens. I was so grateful when there were people from all walks of life. 9 out of 10 times I am the last person to finish a WOD but everyone else is there cheering me on. It truly is an amazing group of people! The coaches are equally amazing. They have all been a great support system for me. The journey you will start won’t be and easy one, but it will be worth it!

Keep up all the hard work Rachel, the best is yet to come!
