Michelle enjoys CrossFit in order to stay healthy and enjoys competing for the pure fun of it.  She is a CrossFit Kids Trainer and still gets her fill of “teaching” through coaching adults & kids alike.  Michelle isn’t coaching as much these days since having her daughter Kinslee back in June of this year, but she loves her time spent at the gym and working from home on all of CFP’s membership and social media.

Michelle’s Coach Profile

1. Tell us a little about yourself.  I was born in raised in Charlotte, the city of transplants!  I was never really “athletic” and never really played sports growing up.  I started working out mostly in college after gaining the “Freshman 15” and was a cardio junkie for many years.  I graduated with a degree in Special Education and taught in the local school system for 5 years.  Brandon and I met in March of 2009, were married in November of 2010 and conceived the idea of CrossFit Pineville with our “brother in law” Warren in January of 2013.  We welcomed our daughter, Kinslee, back in June.

2. How did you get into CrossFit and why do you like coaching?  I had a few friends that were already into CrossFit convince me to try it out.  I definitely liked it, but as a teacher didn’t feel like I could justify the cost when my regular gym was only $20 a month.  Brandon and I eventually tried out a friend’s CrossFit gym in Michigan and we both got hooked.  It was so fun and challenging and such a great atmosphere!  We started “CrossFitting” together at our regular gym and got weird looks from everyone else.  A few months later, we were chatting CrossFit with Warren at our nephews birthday party and decided to open our own!

I love coaching because I love helping people fall in love with themselves, CrossFit and a healthful lifestyle in general.  I always struggled with my weight and food growing up.  I feel like CrossFit helped me finally let go of the idea of being “skinny” and appreciate my body for what it’s capable of.  I fell in love with being strong and finally feel like I have a healthy relationship with food, eating to fuel my body and indulging in moderation instead of depriving myself and binging.  Seeing others achieve these things, whether it’s a PR in the gym or on the scale, brings me such joy and makes me so proud!

3. What is your favorite CrossFit movement?  Least favorite?  My favorite movement is cleans…clean & jerks, power cleans, hang cleans, any variation really!  I like cleaning at the gym way more than my house 😉  My least favorite…wallballs and thrusters!  They jack my heart rate up and wreck me every dang time!

4. What would you tell someone considering trying CFP?  Do it!  You have nothing to lose (except maybe a few unwanted pounds) and so much to gain!  Life is short and if you want to make the most of your time here, make your health a priority now so you can live a long, full life!  If I can do it, former non-athlete, really anyone can!  The community here is absolutely the best, you’ll meet friends you may otherwise have never met, and you’ll become stronger – physically and mentally!
