Guess what’s back….back again….Yoga’s back….tell a friend!!
That’s right, we were so excited to announce this past Sunday that Yoga for Athletes is making a comeback at CFP & RISE later this month! We decided our weekly yoga class was in need of a revamp, mostly because our beloved Yoga teacher, Courtney & her hubby Steve sadly relocated to Atlanta (well, sad for us, happy for them!) back in November, but also so that it can better serve all our members and athletes!
We’re super thankful to have RISE member, Sarah Carley taking over for us! Here are all the details below, as well as a short bio about Sarah! We will be releasing yoga dates quarterly and already have the first 3 for the year picked out, so mark your calendars accordingly!
Who – All CFP and RISE members – free! Friends, family and drop-ins welcome too – only $5!
What – A 60-minute monthly Yoga for Athletes Mobility workshop!
Where – CrossFit Pineville/RISE Charlotte – 400 N Polk St., Unit A, Pineville, NC 28134. RISE side of the gym.
When – One Saturday a month, after morning CF/RISE classes, starting around 10:45am. So far for 2018, Sat, Jan 20th, Sat, Feb 24th and Sat, Mar 24th.
Why – There are numerous benefits to adding some yoga practice into your routine, including, but not limited to, increased range of motion and flexibility, less risk of injury and decreased anxiety. Classes and stretching will be geared towards the current programming of CFP and RISE so assist athletes in stretching out tight and sore muscles as well as give ideas of stretches and poses to hold post workout.
And meet Sarah, our resident Yogi and Yoga instructor! Sarah has been a RISE member since June of 2016 and completed her Yoga teaching certification earlier last year. We’re excited to have her teaching us once a month. Read more about Sarah below.
Hi everyone! I’m Sarah Carley, a psychologist, registered yoga teacher, mom to two fur children and one tiny human who was born in October. I joined RISE a little over a year and a half ago and have enjoyed it tremendously, especially since I can bring my son with me. I have done yoga on and off for over 10 years, but after beginning a more rigorous practice two years ago, I realized how much yoga aided anxiety reduction, and decided to pursue a 200 hour teaching certification with the goal of incorporating yoga into therapy and offering a class at my office. During training I realized how much fun a powerful practice is to teach; I also started to realize how much the increased mobility helped in RISE and how much the strength training improved my yoga practice. The birth of my son put teaching regular classes on hold, but I am looking forward to teaching the monthly class at CFP/RISE!
